Talk of changes in Ethiopia
Ok, so needing lots of prayers out there for the Ethiopia program. There are discussions going on about cutting the adoptions from Ethiopia up to 90% That is HUGE! This will effect the wait times tremendously. It's already a LONG wait and now this??? :( We have just finished our homestudy and are working on our Dossier, but major confusion on whether or not we should continue to pursue this path :(? We still feel such a strong pull towards Ethiopia, but are so worried with the instability of the whole thing if it would be a good call to continue. :( For now I am just "trying" to turn my worries into prayers and let Jesus take the wheel. I also have a meeting scheduled with our social worker Thurs and will be discussing this situation. I know God has a plan I just wish I knew what that plan was and what he wants us to do. :(

We are in the same situation right now... I also feel so strongly about Ethiopia and can't imagine adopting from anywhere else. We are also starting to work on our dossier. I can only hope and pray that this will work out the way we want it to. I really feel as though God led us to Ethiopia and I feel that that is where we should probably continue on our journey unless a definite no comes our way. Have you heard anything from your agency? I can't get a hold of mine until Monday so throughout the weekend I just need a lot of distraction. :) This is seriously driving me crazy though... :(
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that you are working on your Dossier too!:) I still have soooooo much to do T has been working and hasn't been able to start with me on all this stuff and man oh man is there STUFF to do AGAIN! I have not spoke to our agency as I just found out about it Sat but I do have an email in to them. I will let you know. Let us know if you hear anything from yours too. We are keeping positive we truly feel this is our path and I knew going into this that it was a HUGE leap of faith and I cannot give up, we too are like you we will continue on unless God gives us a no. :) After our Gotcha days we HAVE to get our kiddos together I would love to form a group or join an existing group that has adopted from Ethiopia like us. :)

ReplyDeleteI've heard this too. Sounds like they're trying to clean up the system to prevent child trafficking etc. Which is a good thing...but also sucks that you're caught in the slow down. China slowed down considerably too for their traditional program...but their waiting child program is pretty quick. Does Ethiopia have a waiting child program? Should be interesting to hear what your SW has to say..

Steph with the waiting child program how does that work? Bethany has a few on there site but they unfortunately have too extreme health issues that would be too hard for our family. Mild we would consider though. If we see a child on another waiting list can we still go through our Agency?
ReplyDeleteSorry. I just saw this...I know how it works with China, but I don't know for Ethiopia. Sounds like you've already made the decision to go Foster Care though...You could always leave your dossier in Ethiopia and see what happens...?
